Director John Madden is back into the core of the chilling crime
drama genre he does so well with his variation on modern-day
pulp author Elmore Leonard's novel of the same name. The film
spins the tale of terror following beautiful real estate agent,
Carmen Colson (Diane Lane) and her ironworker husband
(Thomas Jane) who quickly become the hunted prey of two
deadly unrelenting criminal minds.
When Carmen regrettably witnesses a treacherous extortion
scheme gone terribly awry, the demand for her testimony against
the savvy hired-gun behind the deed is inevitable. To add to their
anguish, the Colsons soon find themselves wards of the system
and are quickly placed in the Federal Witness Protection Program.
Finally feeling free to move on at last, it becomes apparent they
have been tracked down and are now the targets of a clever,
intimidating villain and his young, evil partner in crime.
Mickey Rourke portrays Armand ‘The Blackbird’ Degas.. the lethal
and sinister hit man behind the nightmare. Where his work is
concerned, ‘The Blackbird” is a well experienced, precise
assassin who doesn’t like leaving any stones unturned. When he
and his eager young, psychotic protégé (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)
stalk and terrorize the frightened couple, Carmen and Wayne
soon discover the level of true danger they are actually involved
in. Before too long the ensuing struggle begins to test Carmen to
the ultimate limit.
..and sometimes.. the trailer says it all!
