The Soldier
who went
M I A
THE THIN RED LINE, is based on the James Jones novel, which tells the story of a group of men,
who change, suffer and rediscover themselves during the fierce battles of World War II. The story is
so much more than just a tale of men fighting a battle, it follows their long and difficult journey.

In director, Terrence Malick's epic tale we see the gore in Saving Private Ryan and the political
controversies in Platoon. The actors turn out great performances in this beautifully filmed and
gripping account of the tragedy that surrounds them.

When the horrors of war help them lose their idea of self they no longer fight solely for patriotism or
the issues which brought them there in the first place. Instead they were fighting for survival and for
the men next to them. This film dwelves into how the soldiers bonded under all the intense stress.
Mickey Rourke on Terry Malick

"It was really great. I loved working with Terry. I mean, the two days that I was there was
just rambling monologues and stuff and it was real real interesting experience working
with him, you know? He's really something else. He's somebody who I had wanted to
meet and work with because, you know he makes a movie like every twenty years. And
uh, you know, umm as it'll be, you know, my stuff didn't make it to the picture."
