Greed is good. Sex is easy. Youth is forever.
Thus far the previous screen adaptations of Bret Easton Ellis’ work have been quite
successful and intriguing  The Informers is the third and perhaps most unusual of
Ellis’ novels to make it to the big screen. Less Than Zero,  American Psycho and
The Rules of Attraction were winners across the board. This variation of the first
Ellis  publication (circa 1995) depicts a collection of loosely connected short stories
which captures a week in the life of a group of morally challenged characters in Los
Angeles circa 1983. The crime drama/thriller tells seven separate stories intertwined
within the content of the film. adulterers and other unscrupulous characters in
assorted shady, proud and violent escapades and misadventures involving sex,
drugs and rock and roll..

In one of the storylines, we find Mickey Rourke featured as a security guard turned
kidnapper, known in the Ellis composition as ’Peter.’ The bitter and unscrupulous
former studio security guard is cleverly scheming and plotting  the kidnapping of a
small child in order to sell to the innocent youngster to the psychotic leader of a Los
Angeles cult. Meanwhile, in another vignette Winona Ryder plays newscaster Cheryl
Laine, who has just been dumped after a long affair with married (to Kim Basinger)
character. executive  film producer William Sloan (Billy Bob Thornton).
.
We also have the tales of a sexually promiscuous girl played by Ashley Olsen., a
vampire (Brandon Routh), a rock star and other notorious and colorful characters.
While the book follows each character through their own excerpts, how the film
represents the intermingling should prove to be interesting to say the least. The
cast of stellar performers also includes Amber Heard, Chris Isaak and the late Brad
Renfro in his last feature film performance.

The potential of the project.. endless!
