Letters pouring in everyday asking questions about Mickey and his role as Randy "The Ram" Robinson." We here at MickeyRourkeOnline and TheNewsDesk are finding ourselves trying to keep up with one and all. One question that comes to mind, "Do you think Mickey will win an Oscar for "The Wrestler"? Well let's see, from what I've seen so far I for one say, "Yes"! Mickey's role as Randy "The Ram" Robinson surpassed my original opinion of the movie. It has emotion, action packed and full of realism. Mickey has made his way back to the screen in a way none would have ever imagined. |

| 13 TZAMETI When Originally going with this story over a month ago I was working on another story afterward and well let's just say it was accidentally deleted. Many of you emailed me to ask where the story had gone. I'm going to throw it out there and say that we had some technical difficulties. I do apologize for the incident and here I go again giving all of you what you've been so interested in reading. 13 (TZAMETI) when first released was an award winner at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Now being turned into a remake which will include our man Mickey Rourke along with other very talented actors, Jason Statham , Ray Winstone , Ray Liotta , plus rapper turned actor 50 Cent. The story tells of a naive young man who assumes a dead man's identity and finds himself embroiled in an underground world of power. Directed by Géla Babluani who was also the director of the original back in 2005. Letters have been pouring in each day about when this movie is going to be released, well according to JoBlo and IMDB it will be around 2010. We first heard about the story from our friends over at JoBlo and thanks to them we've been able to keep you up on all that comes our way. Make sure you check out JoBlo and all that they have to offer the fans. Many thanks guys! | It's come to my attention that my fave wrestler and yes when I say fave, I mean I'm a fan and have been since the 80's Rowdy Roddy Piper showed up for a screening of the movie and loved it! It's said that Roddy cried in Mickey's arms over how much the movie reminded him of his career as a professional wrestler. Also mentioned to me was that Vince McMahon will be given a private showing from Darren Aronofsky. Curious to know what he thinks as well. Hey if the world of Professional Wrestling is impressed with the results, then Hey, what else could be better! An Oscar maybe.... Rowdy joined the WWE back in 1984. No one and I mean no one wears a kilt better. He was one of the most talked about wrestlers of his time and even still today. |

IT'S A GO! Looks like the long and awaited sequel to Sin City has officially became the next in line for the fans. Frank Miller has announced that the script is done, minus working out a few details and they will be filming Sin City 2 as soon as April 2009. Any and all information that comes our direction will hit you as soon as it hits us. Of course though according to an exclusive interview with Mickey Rourke through SuperHeroHype Mickey will not be back as Marv. Quote: “No, I’m not interested in that right now,” Rourke told SHH.com. “That’s not a reality right now. It’s p–sing in the wind. There’s different factions going different directions there. I don’t know. That’s three hours of make- up and I’m claustrophobic, so I’m going to have to work something out.” Well fans, I hope he changes his mind, because there's no one and I mean no one who can play Marv, but Mickey Rourke! |
| "The Informers" This movie directed by Gregor Jordan and written by Bret Easton Ellis is a crime, thriller and drama set in 1983 Los Angeles, where movie executives, rock stars and vampires, mix and commingle. Like Killshot we hadn't heard a lot about the movie until here recently, thinking maybe it wasn't going to make it's way to the theaters, but it now looks like The film will be making it's appearance at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival so hey you never know. A while back we had viewed the trailer, which gave us a tease of what to expect and was very impressed with the story. Now let's hope it shows the Festival circuit the same. The cast is very impressive, along with Mickey Rourke, we're looking at Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger (Who's worked with Mickey once before in "9 and Half Weeks"), Amber Heard, Winona Ryder and the late Brad Renfro. RIP Brad... |

"FOX SEARCHLIGHT PRODUCTIONS" (THE WRESTLER) Kathy, Mickey Rourke Online and myself were approached by Fox Searchlight's very own Thomas Dodson for our help to bring the fans information on the Movie and all that it represents. Fox Searchlights as most of you know is the Official "The Wrestler" website and has been showing the fans some rather impressive imagery and videos from the movie, along with up-to-date information to come. We were honored to receive this e-mail and have NO PROBLEMS bringing the fans any and all information that they are willing to share with us. As most of you know we've been sporting the movie on our sites long before any information has come out. It is important to bring the fans what they want and this movie has definitely shown us that the fans are very excited for it's release. While making it's way through the Festival circuit "The Wrestler" has impressed not on the fans but many people in the business and Hollywood. Hollywood has now been shown that Mickey Rourke has never lost that special touch where as all his fans have been trying to tell them that for years. "The Wrestler" will be giving the fans and the eyes that be the ultimate SmackDown in theaters coming December 17th, however it will only have a limited release. No biggie though because I've witnessed through the years that even though a movie doesn't have that widespread release, it manages to makes it's way to the top and blows the rest out of the water! Kudos to Mickey, Darren Aronofsky and all involved. This movie maybe just the one to put Mickey right where he has long deserved to be, Oscar Quality! However in the eyes of his fans, Mickey has always been right where he belonged! BRING IT! Courtesy Of Fox Searchlight Productions: Directed by: Darren Aronofsky Written by: Robert Siegel Produced by: Scott Franklin, Darren Aronofsky Executive produced by: Vincent Maraval, Agnes Mentre, Jennifer Roth Cast: Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood Back in the late ‘80s, Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Mickey Rourke) was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, twenty years later, he ekes out a living performing for handfuls of diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey. Estranged from his daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) and unable to sustain any real relationships, Randy lives for the thrill of the show and the adoration of his fans. However, a heart attack forces him into retirement. As his sense of identity starts to slip away, he begins to evaluate the state of his life -- trying to reconnect with his daughter, and striking up a blossoming romance with an exotic dancer (Marisa Tomei) who is ready to start a new life. Yet all this cannot compare to the allure of the ring and passion for his art, which threatens to pull Randy “The Ram” back into his world of wrestling. Director Darren Aronofsky presents a powerful portrait of a battered dreamer, who despite himself and the odds stacked against him, lives to be a hero once again in the only place he considers home – inside the ring. THE WRESTLER had its North American premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and won the Golden Lion at the 2008 Venice Film Festival. |

| "Holy Moly Mickey Rourke Fans" According to some news alerts that's been hitting my email box, Mickey has two other movies coming his direction on top of having "Killshot" hitting us on the Big Screen around Jan. 23 2009. Hey I've been busy and away from the web here lately except for my postings on "TheMickeyRourkeForum" It's become a daily routine to go through all the news alerts that hit us and get them out to the fans. Ok back to the info... "Iron Man 2" anyone! Most of you know that I'm into the comic book hero's hitting the movies and some might say it's because of my kids, but not the case. I was somewhat of a comic geek back in the day. What, have a problem with that. When Sin City hit us in the theaters, I wasn't only there for Mickey Rourke, but for the man behind the scenes, Frank Miller. Mickey was excellent in the role of Marv and for this role, he found many more fans coming out of the woodwork. Now "Iron Man 2" Great choice Mickey, hope you take it and run with it. Right now according to IMDB it's in pre-production and Mickey's already listed as being in the movie as Ivan / Whiplash, a Villain Mickey? Ok, I see it and well I think your fans are going to be right there in the seats when it hits the theaters and it should be released on May 7, 2010, however we know as fans that dates can change from time to time. Yes guys, Robert Downey Jr. will be returning as the man in iron himself. Well damn, I did mention two movies hitting Mickey and lets just say we have a very interesting group of individuals joining Mickey in this next movie, "The Expendables." Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Forest Whitaker, Jet Li. Come on, what a combination and hell I have to say a great addition to another Mickey movie hitting us in 2010 as well. More to come as time goes on. Oh yeah and don't forget "13" which hit us not that long ago at "TheMickeyRourkeForum" and that you can read about further down the page. Just give it a scroll. Some are saying 2009 is the year of Mickey Rourke, well to this fan it looks like 2010 could be another and so on and so on. Welcome back where you belong Mickey! | MICKEY WINS! |

| 66th Annual Golden Globes |
| I for one am shocked this didn't happen a long time ago. Mickey has been struggling for years to get that comeback he has so well deserved and last night it was given back in full force! Mickey, you're the man! Congratulation! It's amazing how one role can bring a star back to star quality in the eyes of Hollywood, but in this fans eyes and many others, he's always been star quality. Through every role he's brought forth across the screen, I sat in amazement as he became each and every character. We've been getting so many letters here at "The News Desk" about all the bad press coming out over "The Wrestler", well that and a few other things, but hey all I see is good press from here on out. Now even more so. When your famous all they want to do is talk about you and well Mickey, the press loves him, but not as much as his fans. For those of you that haven't been given the opportunity to see the movie "The Wrestler" you need to make your way to the theaters and catch the view. Now for those who weren't able to catch The Golden Globes last night, along with Mickey's win for best actor, Bruce Springsteen won original song. Mickey and Bruce have been friends for many years and Mickey had asked his dear friend to do the song for the movie. So not only did we see for ourselves that they had the best actor for the job, but they had great taste in musicians as well. Below is Mickey's acceptance speech thanks to NBC.com Categories and Winners: Picture, Drama: "Slumdog Millionaire." Picture, Musical or Comedy: "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." Actor, Drama: Mickey Rourke, "The Wrestler." Actress, Drama: Kate Winslet, "Revolutionary Road." Director: Danny Boyle, "Slumdog Millionaire." Actor, Musical or Comedy: Colin Farrell, "In Bruges." Actress, Musical or Comedy: Sally Hawkins, "Happy-Go-Lucky." Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger, "The Dark Knight." Supporting Actress: Kate Winslet, "The Reader." Foreign Language Film: "Waltz With Bashir." Animated Film: "WALL-E." Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy, "Slumdog Millionaire." Original Score: A.R. Rahman, "Slumdog Millionaire." Original Song: "The Wrestler" (performed and written by Bruce Springsteen) More To Come! |

Inside The Actors’ Studio Six stars. One room. Lots and lots of secrets—and a few lies. Welcome to the 12th NEWSWEEK Oscar roundtable. One of the fringe benefits of hosting our Oscar Roundtable—other than, you know, hanging out with movie stars—is you get to watch them bond. Like how when Brad Pitt ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") happened to mention that he and Angelina were selling their house in Malibu, Robert Downey Jr. ("Tropic Thunder") said he'd buy it—at any price. "I've had a pretty good year," Downey joked. Anne Hathaway ("Rachel Getting Married") told Frank Langella ("Frost/Nixon") she wanted to take notes on everything he said. And when Hollywood newbie Sally Hawkins ("Happy-Go-Lucky") talked about maybe moving to L.A., Mickey Rourke ("The Wrestler") suddenly became her big brother, warning, "Get out as quick as you can." Fortunately, she stayed to finish our chat. For more on the story and to view the other vids found on the site: NewsWeek |

| The Oscars Issue Mickey Rourke When I was casting “Diner” in 1980, Mickey Rourke came in for an audition. He hadn’t done any films yet, and I was looking for certain characteristics: I wanted a guy who didn’t look like the “Grease” version of the ’50s but like a true ’50s man, like the guys I grew up with. Boogie, the character Mickey was reading for, was a hairdresser but kind of tough, and very smooth with women. For more on the story: The New York Times |

| I've been asked so many times by many fans of Mickey Rourke's why I do what I do on the web. Well here it is in a nutshell. It's not about money, hell, I don't get paid for this. It's not the fame, hell I wouldn't want to deal with all the craziness that many already do. It's not the notoriety, God forbid! I'm a fan and this is just my way of showing respect to an actor that I admire for his talent. I've worked on other sites and have even ran my own at one time. Which I still get letters from the members that came and learned and experienced his talent right along with me. I've been asked if I'm going to bring the site back to the web and the answer is? No! Do I miss it? Yes! However I enjoy what I do now, I spend my time living my life and still getting on from time to time to help the fans. It's not all about seeing who's better than the rest or even meeting the man himself. It's about watching, experiencing each role as it appears on the screen and not judging others for their way of doing things. It's fun getting to know other fans and finding out there are some things you didn't know about an actor. I've learned a lot through the years and I still have to say, I'm still a fan. Even more so today. What do I want from this? Nothing! I appreciate all the e-mails and support from the fans and I just have to say thank you, because your the ones that have made this a ride to remember. I've made friends across the world and have shared what I know with them and learned what they knew of him. It looks like we're in for another round of movies and he's not slowing down from what I can see. Oh and by the way, He's a man who does what he does and all we can do is watch. We may not always agree with everything, but what the hell...Life is what you make it and me I'm living mine. He's flesh and bone guys. With one hell of a talent.... Keep it real guys... |
